Spiritual Care in Detention

Volunteer visitors who reside in the vicinity of federal detention centers are needed to provide spiritual care and companionship to detainees. Volunteers play a significant religious support role for thousands of detained men and women who face the emotional and spiritual factors associated with separation from family, loss of economic stability, and pending legal decisions. Volunteers must be members in good standing of their own faith community and, before beginning their visitation ministry with detainees, must undergo a federal security clearance review process.
