Praying with Refugees

Welcome to Praying with Refugees, a monthly feature of our JRS/USA website. We invite you to join us in prayer and reflection on the plight of refugees in our world.  We hope that, as you look into the eyes of people forced from their homes by persecution, conflict and natural disasters, you find the face of Jesus inviting you to deeper hope and service.

The vision of the Jesuit Refugee Service is based on the gospel and on the priorities for service enunciated by St. Ignatius Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits: attend to the greater needs, seek the more universal good, and go where there is lack of other for service. This gospel vision is strengthened by prayer with and for refugees. As we pray with refugees, the cross and resurrection of Jesus take us deeper into the mystery of human suffering.  As we pray for refugees, this same Paschal experience offers us hope.  We come to realize that, as companions of refugees, we are also companions of Jesus.
