Development Officer Individual Giving

JRS/USA is seeking an experienced professional to join its Development team as Development Officer, Individual Giving, reporting to the Director of Development. The Development Officer, Individual Giving works as a part of the Development team to raise private funds to support the work of the organization. This includes responsibility for communication with and stewardship of annual and recurring donors, managing online fundraising activities, coordinating special events, supporting volunteer groups, and managing donor facing aspects of gift processing and acknowledgement. The position requires coordination of elements designed to enhance positive relations with all donors.

General Responsibilities

  • Manage cultivation and stewardship efforts for all individual donors, including monthly donors, annual donors, online donors, and event attendees
  • Coordinate closely on gift processing, including management of gift acceptance, creation of batches, signing acknowledgement letters, and managing appropriate online communications
  • Manage online giving tools (Cart, Peer to Peer Fundraising, Donate page, social media , etc.)
  • Work with Director of Development and Assistant Director of Development to identify and cultivate major donor prospects
  • Manage all aspects of direct mail and online solicitations and other mailings to individual donors
  • Research, design, and implement new donor recognition and cultivation event opportunities
  • Respond to donor inquiries
  • Manage special fundraising events and support outreach events as needed
  • Manage cultivation of specific local “Friends of JRS” groups
  • Coordinate with Development team to ensure proper entry of gifts and timely acknowledgement
  • Manage other aspects of donor relationships including receiving and handling donor inquiries, organizing visits, managing event RVSPs, etc.
  • Support other initiatives taken on by the Development team as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
  • Minimum of three to five years of Development or directly relatable experience. Prior experience with individual giving, annual giving, and/or online giving preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, analytical and organizational skills.
  • The ability to develop and cultivate positive relationships with colleagues, donors and prospective donors.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and development software. Experience with Salesforce and related applications a plus.
  • Familiarity with the Society of Jesus a plus.

Development Officer, West Coast

JRS/USA is seeking an experienced professional to join its Development Team as Development Officer, West Coast, reporting to the Director of Development. The successful candidate for this new position will be responsible for implementing JRS’s constant philanthropic presence in the western United States and managing a portfolio of major donors and prospects to support the overall major gifts fundraising goals of JRS/USA, including the Global Education Initiative Capital Campaign. He/she is responsible for direct solicitation of gifts, managing a portfolio of major gift prospects, and cultivating and stewarding relationships with current and prospective donors. This is a remote position, based in the western United States, with a strong preference for a candidate based in the San Francisco Bay area.

General Responsibilities

  • Plays a leadership role in ensuring that JRS/USA meets overall fundraising goals for unrestricted and restricted support.
  • Manages a personal portfolio of approximately 200 active prospects and donors, including identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
  • Executes a comprehensive major gift program for unrestricted support and program-designated giving.
  • Directs and supports the west coast fundraising efforts of the Executive Director, Director of Mission, International Director and other key JRS/USA representatives, including volunteer leaders.
  • Conducts donor and prospect analysis, including review of wealth screening results.
  • Collaborates with staff and volunteer leadership to identify and prioritize prospects.
  • Reports regularly on the moves management progress of major donors and prospects and on progress toward monthly and annual objectives.
  • Creates, inspires, and maintains donor loyalty, interest and enthusiasm through stewardship, communication and activities designed to express recognition, appreciation and impact of their gifts.
  • Works closely with JRS/USA Programs team on management of donor funded projects to produce timely and appropriate proposals and reports for donors.
  • Attends local, regional, and national JRS/USA-sponsored functions, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • A minimum of seven years of Development, Advancement, or directly relatable experience, including demonstrable experience working with major donors and securing five and six figure gifts.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, analytical and organizational skills.
  • The ability to develop and cultivate positive relationships with colleagues, donors and prospective donors.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and advancement software. Salesforce Experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with the Society of Jesus a plus

  • Attends local, regional, and national JRS/USA-sponsored functions, as needed.

Human Resources Administrator (Part-Time)

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Human Resources Administrator will be responsible for delivering effective human resource services, policies and programs to approximately 25 JRS/USA staff, based in Washington, D.C. and remotely in four field offices (NY, FL, TX, AZ). The position is a part-time, non-exempt role, requiring 24 hours of work per week.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all benefits administration for staff utilizing Paychex software, including the annual open enrollment process.
  • Liaise with Accounting & Payroll Manager to manage compensation administration and assist with monthly payroll related activities; assist management in the annual review, preparation and administration of the organization’s wage and salary program.
  • Support staff by providing human resources advice, counsel, and ensuring employee safety, security, wellness, and health.
  • Oversee staff development opportunities.
  • Oversee recruitment activities including formatting, circulation and posting of vacancy announcements, monitoring the receipt of applications, preparation of documentation and logistical arrangements for selection panels.
  • Coordinate staff orientation and on-boarding activities; coordinate or conduct exit interviews with departing staff.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and federal, state and local employment legislation and ensures JRS/USA’s compliance.
  • Oversee employee-related requirements for Federally-funded grants and ensure organizational compliance by providing guidance to JRS regional and country offices, as appropriate.
  • Manage annual performance review process including initiating, tracking and monitoring the various stages of the process.
  • Guide management and employee actions by researching, developing, and updating policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines.
  • Communicate changes in the organization’s personnel policies and procedures and ensure that proper compliance is followed.
  • Keep human resources files up to date with accurate information.
  • Develop strong working relationships with JRS/USA departments and JRS International Office, as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in human resources and/or employee benefit administration.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and planning skills.
  • Keen organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience utilizing Human Resource Management systems is desired.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification a plus.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
