Nov 27 is Giving Tuesday! This year, we’re asking YOU to help us raise $15,000 to provide nutritious meals to 500 Syrian refugee students in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon through JRS’s school meals program. Nutrition is critical for children’s development in and outside the classroom, and is especially important for refugee students, as they seek refuge in a new place and manage trauma they have likely experienced.

Your gift can make TWICE the impact, thanks to the Frankel Family Foundation who will match every gift given to our Giving Tuesday campaign.

YOUR response and generosity on Giving Tuesday to help refugee children in the Bekka Valley of Lebanon has been remarkable! We exceeded all of our goals and were able to raise more than $28,000, each dollar of which has been matched by the Frankel Family Foundation – thats almost $60,000 that will go directly to refugee students Bekaa Valley in Lebanon.

Since running the school-feeding program in JRS’s education projects in Lebanon, we have observed a noticeable difference in children’s performances in the classroom.

These meals your gift provides will help children remain in school, develop healthy minds and bodies, as well as assist families in providing for their child’s needs.

Jesuit Refugee Service operates in three schools in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon, providing quality education to 500 students and 1 meal per day. In each school, the programs include a daily meal for all students, counseling, hygiene support, transportation, and more. Hassan Al Mostafa, a Bekaa Valley student, shared his gratitude for the JRS staff and our supporters saying, “A big thanks to my teachers and JRS, because you gave me back safety and hope.”

With many of the 68 million refugees and forcibly displaced people in the world being children, and only half of them have access to primary education, JRS is working to assure they have access to education and nutritious school meals. With your support this Giving Tuesday, we can give more students a seat in the classroom.

Will you help us provide nutritious meals to Syrian refugee students?
