Stop budget cuts that punish the poor.
In moments of crisis, our nation must lead with compassion — not punishment. But current budget proposals would deny food assistance to lawful immigrants, price asylum seekers out of safety, and gut life-saving humanitarian aid to refugees worldwide.
What’s at Stake:
H.R. 1 and the Administration’s proposed FY 2026 budget would:
- Impose exorbitant fees on humanitarian immigration applications.
- Strip SNAP benefits from up to 250,000 lawfully present immigrants — including 50,000 children.
- Slash refugee assistance funding and subject remaining aid, authorized by Congress, to unchecked executive discretion.
- Dismantle global humanitarian programs that reach families displaced by war, violence, and climate disaster.
These are not just policy decisions — they are moral decisions. As people of faith, we are called to protect the vulnerable, not abandon them.
Urge Congress to:
- Maintain affordable access to immigration benefits and food assistance for immigrant families.
- Oppose harmful cuts in H.R. 1 and the Administration’s FY 2026 budget.
- Fund refugee assistance in FY 2026 at current levels, and for the purposes which Congress directs.
Let our leaders know: We choose faith over fear — and justice over indifference.
