Support Climate Refugees with JRS/USA

Every year, 23 million people are displaced due to climate-related disasters.

Why do Climate refugees need our help?

Those displaced by climate events often have no protections as there is no global infrastructure in place to grant them asylum or refugee status. As of 2024, 60% of refugees come from or are living in climate vulnerable countries. It is projected that by 2050, upwards of 1.2 billion people could be displaced by climate change.

However, as we reflect on our planet’s future, we are reminded that hope lies in our collective ability to foster change and resilience. Communities worldwide are rising to the challenge of climate displacement, drawing strength from their shared experiences and innovative solutions.

How is JRS supporting people displaced by climate?

In response to the changing climate, JRS is building resilience in these local communities, especially in areas where agriculture is most impacted. Through Farmers Field School in Nigeria or community gardens in Cameroon, JRS is helping refugees adapt to the changing environment.
