Take Action: Support Education for All
Students in a Jesuit Refugee Service education program in Kampala, Uganda. (Fr. Kevin White S.J. — Jesuit Refugee Service)

(Washington, D.C.) September 7, 2016 — As early as today, the House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on the Education for All Act, bipartisan legislation which would build on current U.S. efforts to ensure equal access to quality education for children throughout the world, including those impacted by crisis and conflict.

Today, only 50 percent of refugee children have access to primary school, 25 percent to secondary school and very few have access to either pre-primary or tertiary education. Access to schools and quality education is an urgent priority for all refugee children and youth. It is a basic human right and is fundamental to a better future for their communities.

Jesuit Refugee Service is providing access to education for thousands of refugee children, adolescents and adults in over 45 countries around the world. The Education for All Act would reinforce this work by helping to ensure that individuals affected by conflict and other emergencies are not denied the opportunity to learn and thrive.

Please take a moment to let your Representative know that you support access to education for refugees and the Education for All Act.

Thank you for taking action today.
