JRS/USA Signs Global Compact Charter for Action

Washington DC, 24 September 2018 — This week, Jesuit Refugee Service and other humanitarian organizations gather together in New York for the 73rd United Nations General Assembly to achieve a common goal: to ensure all refugees have access to quality educational opportunities.

In 2016 world leaders adopted the New York Declaration for Refugees and Migrants with the aim to strengthen the international response to the global refugee crisis and grow support to meet the needs of refugee and host communities. As a result, a new Global Compact on Refugees will be adopted by the UN General Assembly and includes a call to generate commitments towards achieving a quality education for refugees

JRS, along with others, signed a Charter for Action and will increase refugee access to quality education by:
