David (Rob) Robinson joined Jesuit Refugee Service/USA as Executive Director on April 3, 2017. Prior to joining JRS/USA, Rob was a career member of the Senior Foreign Service and worked extensively to limit civilian casualties and provide humanitarian relief to refugees and other forcibly displaced persons in conflict and post-conflict areas. His assignments include: Assistant Secretary of State for Conflict and Stabilization Operations; Ambassador to Guyana; Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees and Migration; Principal Deputy High Representative in Bosnia; and Assistant Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, among others. He also has served in El Salvador, the Dominican Republic, Bolivia, Paraguay and Iceland, as well as in a variety of domestic U.S. State Department positions.
Rob holds his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame, a Master of Divinity from Christ the King Seminary in East Aurora, New York and a Master of Science in National Security Strategy from the National War College. Rob and his wife, Donna have two children. His daughter, Casey, is a graduate of Notre Dame. His son, David, is a graduate of St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia.
