Protect U.S. Asylum

U.S. Senators are currently negotiating a supplemental funding bill that would provide aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. However, some Senators do not want the bill passed without serious policy changes to the U.S. asylum system.

The proposed changes include the imposition of a much more restrictive credible fear screening standard and requiring migrants to seek asylum and be denied in another country before applying for asylum in the U.S.. These changes would severely restrict access to asylum and do little to address the current situation at the U.S.-Mexico border.

This is a critical moment for the future of U.S. asylum policy, and we need your help! Please join us in reaching out to congressional offices to urge our lawmakers to reject these restrictive asylum proposals.
