Portugal is a part of a voluntary program for the redistribution of refugees proposed by the European Commission. Through this program, Portugal took in 1,552 refugees from 2015 to March 2018.
Our Work in Portugal
JRS Portugal started in 1992 and focuses on providing a variety of services to forced migrants including social support, psychological support, medical support, legal support, professional integration, Portuguese language courses, and shelter for of homeless immigrants. JRS Portugal also accompanies migrants detained by the state (Housing Unit of Santo António).
