Ecuador
Number of people served: 14,066
Ecuador currently hosts close to 65,000 registered refugees, the majority of whom are Colombian. However, there are at least 135,000 other people living in refugee-like situations who need international protection. Ecuador has also become a country of transit and destination for Venezuelans fleeing their country’s humanitarian crisis. There are already close to 3,000 refugee applications, and more than 9,000 applications for residency, and these numbers do not count the Venezuelans who have settled in Ecuador without documentation and remain without migratory regulation.
Our Work in Ecuador
JRS Ecuador supports the personal, economic, social, and political security of refugees. Through legal advocacy, JRS Ecuador raises awareness about the basic rights of migrants. They also work to encourage the inclusion and integration of refugees in host communities through participatory community programs.
