A Prayer for Beirut
14 August 2020|Spiritual Reflection and Resources
On August 4 a massive explosion decimated much of the city of Beirut, including JRS offices and center. We are relieved that all staff are safe and accounted for, but saddened at the significant loss the community we serve has experienced.
We stand in solidarity with the people of Beirut and Lebanon during this devastating time and pray especially for those who have lost family and friends. We ask for your prayers for Beirut, most especially for the refugee community that we serve.
A Prayer for Beirut
God of all,
We ask that you be with people of Beirut and Lebanon
As they mourn the lives lost and the bodies injured,
May they find comfort, peace, and justice.
Please keep close to you those who have already fled from violence and persecution,
The refugees who only recently began to call Beirut home,
Grant that they may find healing in the midst of this new trauma.
Give strength to those who respond, who give their lives
To care for those wounded and accompany the grieving.
May resources be abundant as the city rebuilds and may we
Continue to answer their call for help
With generosity, solidarity and a spirit of service.
Amen.
