The Asylum Seeker Work Authorization Act (H.R. 1325) is bipartisan legislation introduced in the House of Representatives that would honor the dignity of asylum seekers while supporting the US economy and American businesses.  

H.R. 1325 will reduce the waiting period to apply for a work permit from 180 days to 30 days for all asylum seekers. This will decrease reliance on general assistance from hosting communities and more quickly put asylum seekers on a path to self-sufficiency.  

Please join JRS/USA in calling on your representative to cosponsor this bill to expedite the process for asylum seekers to receive work permits and strengthen the US workforce.
