A Prayer for Holy Week

07 April 2020|Spiritual Reflection and Resources

A family embraces at the JRS Safe Haven in Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya, one of the projects JRS continues to operate during the global pandemic, providing a safe place to live and opportunities to learn for vulnerable women and their families.

With churches closed and services canceled, Holy Week looks different this year. As we walk through this week and with Christ, use this prayer to help you in your reflection.

God of Mercy,

As we trace the steps you took for our sake,

For our freedom,

May our eyes be opened to see

How this journey occurs daily

For our refugee sisters and brothers,

Who give up so much, so that they and their loved ones may live.

With this awareness, may we do what we can

To alleviate the burden, as Simon of Cyrene did for you.

May our hearts and minds be open,

So that in the midst of all the uncertainty,

We may respond, not out of fear,

Rather, with love

And understanding that we are on this journey together.

Amen.
